boy did i have a hot date last night.
my friend ne picked me up, and we headed out for sushi. i've probably posted about this before, but one of my favorite restaurants is this sushi dive in a strip mall next to an abandoned hotel. every time i've been there, it has been filled with old japanese men reading newspapers. last night, however, it was american city. so, odd to hear english coming out of the mouth of the sushi master. he was hilarious, too. grand gestures, wild facial expressions, and his excited chatter. oh, and the most amazing veggie sushi known to man. i have no idea what i got exactly, but it was wonderful. of course there was an adorable carrot sushi with these thin little carrots that...well...ended up all over my shirt...after i had dipped it in the soy sauce. my date, luckily enough, had an extra shirt in the car.
then? the library! so much fun to look at books sans barnacles. i may have checked out ninety books. i may also have harassed the librarians for their book recommendations. nothing more fun than going up to a librarian and saying, "so, what should i read?" they visibly boggle. sadly, i didn't return with c's runaway shoe. where did that daggone thing go? what books lured it in with their saucy saucy ways?
next we popped in to are restaurant across the street for a bit of pie. now really, sushi, books, and pie. isn't that the best evening that you've ever heard of? forget clubbing, or high society...sushi, books, and pie...that's where it's at.

Last time Philip and I went to the sushi restaurant there were tons of Americans. They even had extra English menus so we didn't have to share one. I think the word is out.
Sounds just about perfect to me too!
dinner out and a very long browse through the book store...that's exactly what my best friend and I do on our evenings out. The thought of adding pie to the equation? Perfection!
