- head lice is running rampant at the school. this means they checked my wee guy, but i can tell you now...with that fro? you could hide an elephant. "hey, why don't we give you a little trim," i say. nope. no way. no how. but daddy? yeah, the kid trusts daddy with the clippers. not scissors, mind you... note to son: when having your hair cut by daddy? it is best not to try to spell out your name with the curls as they fall to the floor. the bad news? that boy is bald. but, as he said cheerfully, no lice!
- my brother taught me a new child wrangling trick last weekend. he told me that he learned it from one of his baby sitters. houdini! seriously, she convinced them to let her tie them up and stick them in a closet. they thought it was aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome. i know, i know. but i still love them. ya' know, they're family and all.
- my two new favorite urban dictionary definition:
elf esteem: The feeling of being overworked, under-appreciated and like you don't exist to others during the holidays while in actuality the season's success depends on you.
- theLeon and i are currently arguing whether andi mcdowell or oprah is more insipid. the boy has some serious oprah issues, i swear. i on the other hand am totally justified. he works in town this week, so it might be a long fight.
- mr6 never walks. he scampers. he turns. he skips. he shuffles sideways. but he never walks. i wish that would last forever.
- i had no idea how important cards were until recently. i think i'm going to try to acquire some of my mom's stash on my next visit. after new years? i hope to be a snail mailing card writin' fool.
- it's nice to have gone from one job that has fresh coffee for me each morning to another that has the same. and along those lines...i wonder how many people who come in and ask what the bold coffee of the day is can actually tell the difference.
- believe it or not, i'm actually knitting again! huzzah!

I can always tell when they serve me Pike Place. That stuff is swill.
Lice free! Sweet.
I'm all for tying children up and putting them in closets. Excellent idea. It has my stamp of approval.
Elf esteem is brilliant. Urban dictionary rules.
I vote for Andi McDowell. No. Wait. Oprah. Damn. I think they're tied for most insipid.
