life has supplied oodles of surprises lately. thankfully, the good kind.

#1 Robiewankenobie can learn to quilt.

i need to do a shout-out here. my original plan? was to do a simple patch quilt. but then i thought? i should do two. because there were two little girls. and i should also probably do a little embroidery, right? 'cause i just completed my first embroidery project...i clearly know how to embroider, right? how hard can lettering
be? oh, how i amuse myself. what really happened? i embroidered the name on one panel so many times that i destroyed it (lettering is a real bitch).

the swap-leader...instead of berating me for being late she encourages me to finish, gives me some hints, and tells me to take my time and enjoy the process. thank you Lisa! look at one of her amazing quilts. can you just imagine? i can't decide whether i like the front or the back better...

here is the quilt i got in the exchange from Polly Hope. she doesn't have a blog, or i'd link to it. at any rate, she nailed the colors perfectly, and i love the lace border that she tucked in. i have a lonely corner in the living room, and this will look amazing there. Thanks Polly!

now to mine. i made tiny pillows and pillowcases as an added thank you. my swapmate was oh, so, patient... i hope that the girls enjoy their quilts, even if they aren't perfect. oh, and i photoshopped out the names for privacy.

the embroidered panel. names photoshopped out for privacy.

how the panel fits into the scheme of the quilt.

on its own. the pillow matches the quilt backing.

the quilts together.

next? big adventures. #2 the robiewankenobie clan goes on vacation! no really...we actually went somewhere together. okay, so we stayed with my brother, but it was a true pseudo vacation. this means 1) more than a jaunt away 2) no set schedule 3) new pajamas

first things first. dinosaurs. gotta see some dinosaurs. this looks like a good place, right?

the leon was obsessed, downright obsessed, i tell you, with the dinosaur breaking out of the building.

tune in for more. photo posts can really suck the life outta a person. baby steps.
