don't take things for granted internets, you have no idea when the world will come crashing down at your feet. i've been trying to post about this, but i've just been, well, traumatized.
yesterday we headed to the liquor barn for a splurge. we generally make do with some nice, tangy, rather low fat, antibiotic free, organic, yogurt cheese. no, no....don't cry! it's really decent stuff. after all, it comes from a chalet...but it isn't, well, you know...a breathless lover of a cheese. i knew that i would be making the leon a quiche, and so i thought a blue...a goat blue. i bought one at jungle jim's, and i just knew that the liquor barn would have it.
she's gone. my, our, cheesemonger is gone.
i tried to keep things light around the kids. i mean, she's one of "the people in our neighborhood," you know? not only does the "hey, i'm new" guy not sample anything that has been wrapped, but he can't find my goat blue. and he doesn't know the aged gouda that bear loves, or the the secret cheddar she had stashed in the back that got me most favored nation status with the leon. and what about those special olives. when i asked? "i don't know, i'm the new guy."
i got the impression from the she is no longer with our organization speech that there may have been some sort of sitchyation.
i managed, through some detective work, to discover her last name. i can't find a number. i need to figure out a way to stalk, i mean track her down. i had to find my own cheese, people. BY LOOKING AT THE PACKAGE. do you know how serious this is?
i'm off to comfort myself with chubby hubby [i.e. my new boyfriend] which i had never tried before tonight. because i couldn't tell if it was good or not BY LOOKING AT THE PACKAGE. i think i need an ice cream monger while i'm at it...

Here in Tuvalu the loss of a good cheesemonger is BEYOND tragic.
