i've missed some awesome fall days what with my partying and working, but i captured some amazing bits, too. you may not know it, but i have some mighty fancy friends round these parts. some own amazing stores. some write amazing books. and one? one is a badass archaeologist. the dawg and i spent the morning messing around in dirt at the henry clay estate on a recent morning. the weather perfect. the leaves falling around us, and, not to brag or anything, but we found a few nails. and a glass fragment. yeah, i know, i'm pretty badass, too.

yesterday, since the bear was off on an arbitrary records day, we met up with friends for a hike at a local park. it is the perfect hike for kids. about a mile? mile and a half? tree covered trail...two bridges, some stone fences, and, of course, the springs. it's smack dab in the middle of an industrial park. so weird. i suspect many more hikes there over the fall. it also brought to mind another past hiking spot. i called up a friend that i hadn't seen in absolute eons yesterday to find out where that spot was. lovely conversation. lovely friend. i'm hoping to scoop her up and ply her with coffee sometime soon.

other than that we've been hanging at the park with various friends. one of which invited us to a concert in february. yes, february. but it's worth booking ahead, don't you think? i keep seeing all these wee little skateboarders there. i think that we might get the kids started up when we get money. if we ever get money. the barista gig brings healthcare, but not a lot of dough. this freelance thing? insane. i just got a new client and she is driving me up a tree. i must say, unless i'm working for my favorite client? i'm not missing the freelance thing one bit. i have a friend with one of those impossible work from home jobs that is so good it should be a scam. she's hooking me up, so cross your fingers. it ought to get me enough moolah to derby, folks. or i might even spring for some crazy meds. wheee!

next order of bidness? the leon's birthday and halloween costumes.
