hot tofu dogs, it's a reprieve!
today? magic. no, i swear it's magic. a quick rundown of the day of awesome (pleasetobeexcusing the over enthusiastic everydamnthing to follow):
i met up with one of my skillets at the coffee shop. today is friday? and thus, mr4 and i are on our coffee date. she and he play the pacifist hippie game of war that we like to call munch. she gets the hang of it quickly and munches up the leetle cards with leetle munches and the beeg cards with beeeeeeeeeeeeg munches.
mr. d the parking attendant isn't scary any more. i tried telling him he was scary? but he ignored me. i called the number on the building and told them that he was scaring the beegeeebies out of us. i guess they talked to him because now he's sweet to us. and not in that i have to be sweet way. genuinely sweet. so that makes fridays much nicer, too.
mr7 got a 100% on his spelling test. the only one in his reading group to do so. apparently? you have to spell the extra-credit words to unlock pages in harry potter. kind of like the password you need to get into the gryffindor rooms. works like a charm. oh, and the word of the day? immaculate. we're going to start a harry potter word book with all our new words. i noticed that although he's hanging with the story, that a lot of words are passing him by because they are easily understood in context. so now i'm pausing and we're savoring them. kid's smart as a whip, i tell ya, he can figure out the definition 90% of the time.
oh, and today? mr4 said that he wanted to go to the grocery before nap and that he would be extra special good. i was skeptical, but dang. he put tape on the top of the bulk containers, and helped me write down the numbers. he stuck with me in the store. he unloaded the cart onto the belt (always his favorite part). it was the b-o-m-b.
and then we went to the asian market where we bought the leon "real" ramen noodles.
i picked up my paycheck. yea! payday! and i called to verify that i have enough hours to qualify for healthcare...which i do. so i'm not going to work, or solo parent, or any daggone thing that i don't want to do on sunday. so, i'm pre-celebrating that.
we had a glorious, if interrupted by phone calls nap. i was a little despondent, since i knew i was going to have to power through until work was over at 10:30., too.
then we picked up mr7 and headed back to camp where we stumbled upon the leon! home early from work! huzzah! and then i checked my schedule! i'm not scheduled! and then we picked up school desks from the thrift store (real school desks...just like mr7 has in school).
followed by some puddle jumping and park exploration.
and then grandma and grandpa called to say that they wanted to pick up the tab for the desks. (boggles)
today is a miracle. i swear they called it leap day just because they knew my heart would be a' leapin.
