Mr. Radar Binks has always been, uh, sure of himself? in a cantankerous old man sorta way, but the endearing kind. you know, keep off my lawn you pesky kids! with a sekrit heart of gold. or something.
binks facts:
he loves being pet - and he will come up with a growl to demand some love.
you can always tell if the kids are awake downstairs because you can hear him growling under our bed. helpful with we ones scurrying about the house.
he is often used in a game we call "dog as weapon." simply pick up the dog and aim him at your victim. growls a'plenty.
see a pattern here?
we knew something was wrong when he let us pick him up and pet him with nary a growl on the horizon. it looked like a simple eye infection, but he ran away the way dogs do when they are sick, and it took forever to find him. quick note? theLeon? didn't hesitate to come home right away to find him. he's cool like that.
okay, so when we took him to the vet? we learned that he had a tooth abscess that had gotten so infected that it was pushing against his eye. poor pookie! they whisked him off for a good cleaning and tooth pull and told us to pick him up at three.
then? extreme bleeding from the mouth. extreme. blood transfusion requiring extreme. followed by other blood stuffs. it was harrowing for awhile. we weren't sure if he would make it through the night. our vet didn't have overnight care, but were worried about moving him.
this dog isn't finished with his quest for world domination.
he's fought his way back, and we'll pick him up shortly. i must admit that i'm worried about letting the guy out of my sight. better that he's home, though. it would be awful nice to sleep tonight.
i'll feel better once he really growls at me.
