you know i'm a bleeding heart, right? you know, all the babies and puppies and that shitz. it's truly tragic. if only i could be a little less...i dunno vry srs bidness about it all.

which all comes down to this. it's motherfucking time, folks. time for me to stop freaking out about sewing. i mean, shit, who cares if i end up all little orphan annie? okay, i guess i do. i don't want to be wearing "home made" clothing if you know what i mean. but the internets has lots of fabulous resources, and i can be all cool, right? shuttup. quasi-cool? maybe i can pull that off.

okay, so i've been buying more and more store bought stuff. justifying that if i get practical stuff i can wear it forever. you know the drill. but then i was reading along one day and saw this:

"Several years ago, I attended a protest against sweatshops where the organizers had not invited the typical rally speakers — lawyers, activists, advocates. Instead, they brought kids from the sweatshops. A child from Indonesia pointed to his face. "I got this scar when my master lashed me for not working hard enough. When it bled, he did not want me to stop working or to ruin the cloth, so he took a lighter and burned it shut. I got this scar making stuff for you."

gawd, almighty.

oh, internets! help me, oh internets! i must find sewing resources that aren't for shit! also? i'm pretty sure that my goal in life is to have my closet look like this. or this. try to figure that one out. anywhoo...

jenny gordy is the bomb. a few years years ago - well, maybe a few more than a few, she started selling shirts online. always impeccable. impeccable. impeccable. over the years her style has put some impressive collections together.

uniform natural (formerly uniform studio) puts together limited runs of fabulous handcrafted items.

angry chicken knows where it's at (her sewing posts are like crack to me).

threadbanger
these people are pretty nifty. they skew younger younger than my demographic ::cough:: but cool. there are some tricks to be picked up.

imma gonna go look for more...and then i'm going to finish that dress i keep saying that i'm going to finish. i have high hopes for myself.
