so. here we are at friday, eh?
first things first. my children are fired. i don't sleep. and it's getting old. this week i have made the sleeping a priority. and it worked! i must have had six whole hours on wednesday! sure it made me loopy on thursday morning, but it all washed out during the day. they were total jerkfaces at the grocery, but i was all graceful and shit and didn't kill them! all because of the sleep, i tell you. okay, maybe not. maybe i hang pretty tough with the no sleep and all, but i was especially gracious. and, perhaps, there was a gorpfest in lieu of real dinner last night, but again, i think unrelated.
you can see where this is going. you are smart people. i get all cuddled in with the leon. the perfect temperature. nice outside noises (i do so like it when the outside noises get all soothing for me). and my children had me up four or five times. every half hour. which is just plain evil.
i left the teevee off for about three hours. at two, or somewhere thereabouts, i gave up. i watched a fabulous documentary on being the gay. and it was so inspiring! people who draw comic books coming out! people who are ministers coming out! a girl who came out to her mother. her poor mama. so concerned about the secret that her daughter wasn't telling her. the daughter finally broke down, and the mama? so relieved she wasn't pregnant. ah. oh, and the aids activists! oh, there was this whole inside the scenes at actup. so very interesting. the lesbians, it seems, had all the real power and insight. and they were all about negotiations first. so, when some psychiatrist (don't get me started) did a cover story at cosmo about how women couldn't get aids from consentual hetero sex? they went to have a nice meeting with him. and i mean it. they were so nice. but he was an ass. so they picketed. loudly. i love them muchly for this. it tied in so nicely with the feelings that i've been having about isaiah washington. seriously? like if someone had called him the n-word? he would have gone fucking crazy. but you can call someone a faggot? someone who hasn't come out to everyone yet? i'm so proud of everyone for drawing the line. moving past the initial incident, and then holding the line.
so. no sleep, but plenty of inspiration.
i shall do some napping while the kid watches curious george. then i'll read him a book and settle him down for his nap. later there shall be falafel. it is a falafel friday. and then books. and then i shall collapse. the leon? he had some serious continuous sleep last night...he can handle dinner.
