CHRISTMAS
dear diary,
santa brought me food poisoning for christmas. i hate santa.
the leon loves him some rudolph the red nosed reindeer. no. not in THAT way. but he got most teary when he missed it this year. and when he was going to miss it again because he had class. yes. i am better than santa. santa brought him butkus, but i brought him rudolph. oh, and the 1978 star wars christmas special. because i rock.
my kids loved their left shoes. and the spaghetti. and the lemon. yeah. they loved their "traditional" christmas presents, too. losers.
i found the MOST PERFECT COAT EVER at a thrift store today. Ne-ne bought it for me for christmas. she also brought me a leopard pj set that she got for christmas that was too tacky for her. nothing. i mean nothing. is "too tacky" for the rwkn. in fact? dead sexy.
why is it that my dansko shoes cannot hold up to the pressures of my coffeeshop job, but my $8 thrifted brand-new ghetto tommy hilfiger shoes, do? DANSKO -- LISTEN UP, FRIEND. HILFIGER HAS YOU BY THE BALLS...NOW STEP TO IT, SUCKA!
you really wish you could see my sexy ass self in my sexy ass tacky pajamas right now. i know it. plus? i'd do a leetle dance. you would not be able to resist me. rawr.
love,
rwkn

BREWING FOR THE NEW YEAR
i'm currently crushing on "the compact." a group of folks in san fran who decided that they could go an entire year without buying anything new. with the exception of food and underwear. i'm totally doing this. and trying to decrap our house and such. seriously. it's bad enough coming home to a clutterfest, but living in it on a daily basis? geez 'o petes. yes, virginia, i can be happy and STILL strive to do better. my first real quandry was how to afford fancy schmancy shoes for my onmyfeetallshift job. luckily? a swank bartering situation popped up. yea! barter! it ain't strictly no commerce, but bartering from a local store will work within' my boundaries.
now. if i can just figure out how to barter for one of these beauties...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volkswagen-Bus-Vanagon-WESTFALIA-1978-ORIGINAL-VW-WESTFALIA-CAMPMOBILE-CALIFORNIA_W0QQitemZ120073452613QQihZ002QQcategoryZ15291QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem hell, forget barter, i'd whore for one.
other things in the works are figuring out how bigtime i want to get with the graphic design biz, and my jewelry.

BIRTHDAY KID
he's six, and saturday we celebrated. i swear, if i keep having days this fabulous, i will think i made the right decision about quitting my job. *snort*
how do you start out a perfect day, you might ask? at the waffle house, of course. chocolate chip birthday waffles. they are old enough to have actual conversations with now. and the conversations are hilarious. after breakfast i headed off to work.
work was fine and dandy. hang out, laugh for a few hours, mosey on home. when i got there, i found h wearing his new roller skates. we haven't hung up the lighting yet, but the skates have been worn a bazillion times already. they're beginner roller skates, but we might need to upgrade to the real thing fairly soon. these kids are really getting good! the watch and the harmonica are also getting plenty of use.
h decided that he wanted broccoli or cauliflower for dinner. and pizza. fondue for dessert. he and i picked out all the ingredients and left daddy and c to do the hard work. we ran to the movie store where he picked out stuart little.
seriously? the most fun dinner companions of all time. h was sitting cross legged on the ottoman making "observations." c was running up and down throwing his hands in the air – terribly excited about every thing that might happen to stuart.
i ran out with a friend for some coffee to round up the evening.
good times.

THIS WEEKEND
i really think i should win the hgtv dream home this year. it really should be mine. if i win? i'm totally inviting you to the party. too bad john denver is dead. the house is in aspen. you know he'd come to the party, too, if he was alive. and then he could sing annie's song to me. but he's not. so, i'll have to make due with internets friends and booze.
i have my sexy back. not that i lost it, but when i went by the coffee shop last night? i saw one of my regular customers (no. not one of my "regular customers" you perv) and we chatted a little. i mentioned a husband? he was a mite sad that i was married, and he told me that the leon better know how wonderful his woman is. i got my schedule and a coffee, and on my way out? he told me to say hello to the leon for him. because he wants me. yeah, baby. and he's not the only one. the coffee house is totally my venue. i've got the flirt mojo going down over coffee, yo!
it may be the coat. i have a fantastic coat that my friend ne bought me at a thrift store. it is a dark caramel brown. long. and the hat i got at the thrift store? perfect. it is a different shade of brown, and has a terrific broach. seriously. i'm so totally cute.
compacting is going well. today the leon and i our getting rid of stuffs. as much stuffs as we can get rid of before 2:00. after i wake him up, that is. my children can sense the weekend. they never sleep on friday and saturday nights. ratbastids. he and i juggled them all night long. i mean, not literally. those kids are hugenormous. i can't believe that they used to be babies.
i went a little crazy yesterday and bid on an atari on the ebay. when i was a wee girl? my friend cindy? had an atari. she had the best damn sleepovers. her parents were so cool! they had sugared cereal, and welches, and potato chips! and her father played a mean game of water balloon. she got the smurf game one year. THE SMURF GAME! right after it came out!!! we got in sooooooooo much trouble. we were up all night playing the dang thing. so, my friend craigy? in college? bequeathed me his atari. i would have loved him without it, but he just clinched my undying love with the atari. and then? during the ice storm? when our basement flooded? i can't speak of it. the atari? oh, this makes me cry. and so? i HAD to bid on a console and games (they had brick out AND super brick out) on the ebay last night. i bid 32. it went for 33. i just couldn't justify a re-bid. it was sort of a karma deal. okay, karma, i can bid 32 dollars that i don't have for the atari of my dreams. if it is not meant to be...it wasn't. this is terribly sad, no?
i rocked the grocery shopping last night. oh, yes. rocked. the goal? $100 for the whole family. every meal. organic as much as possible. that may seem excessive, but it really doesn't seem to be. i must admit, i am tempted by the walmart organics, but i'm trying to stay away from the evil giant. we're going to work on bread baking this weekend to see if we can find a standard loaf. this will make things a bit easier. at any rate, i got some sexy produce. i splurged on some fresh organic blueberries. oh, my. we'll be trying out some new recipes which should be festive. and i've been reading about the dr. oz diet thing...find a healthy breakfast and lunch and repeat them every day. i'll be trying out some possible contenders.
yeah. so. that's all i've got.
