i'm all over this daylight savings crap. yes, siree, bob.

i worked last night, fell asleep on the couch, and woke up this morning to my cell phone alarm. then i called the leon in the bedroom to make sure that he was awake.

at which point i realized that we were plumb out of breakfast stuffs. so i made some muffins from scratch. because that's what one does at the very last moment. it practically ensures that a person will get her brood up and out and to school on time.

then there was the matter of awakening the slumbering proginy and rustling the notsomuchdaylight savings right out of them. mr7 wanted to have a whole argument about the merits of the pants that i had laid out for him. unfortunately, we had to table it as we had some muffin time-constraints, and hadn't found his errant shoes. could someone please explain to me what mr7's shoes have against getting a proper education? because those suckers flee the very moment that they know school is coming. stay at home days? they're like lead. stay right where you put 'em.

after locating the misbehaving footwear under the sofa, i pack a lunch. apples and a peanut butter dipper sauce that i made up out of my noggin full of halfbaked lunch ideas, another amazing muffin of muffiness, and a passion tea half-strength. okay, so not the perfect lunch. but this might not be a shining day of motherly perfection. just might not be.

because as i herded my calves to the front door i realize that the pants i'm wearing now have a giant tear. in the general area of the assbuttian variety. luckily? cute clean undies so if the neighbors get particularly window look-outy...well, i won't have given them the full monty. can it be a full monty? is that a masculine term? no idea. but they didn't get it, so it really doesn't matter. also? i didn't brush my hair. i am one step away from the mother in her pajama pants at the drop off. and not in a good way. because they? have full coverage pajama pants. and a ponytail. so the brushed hair component matters little. me? with the short hair? i so need to get a hat. not that there will be other occasions like this. because i am the epitomy of propriety every other day. no really, i so am. except when i wear the green furry coat of awesome. then i'm more of a muppet of somewhat sketchy propriety.

so, the kid gets to school on time. by seconds. this is sad because we didn't get to say hi to ms. theresa the crossing guard. or stop at the line that keeps us from getting swiped by cars that cut at the corner. we call it the boogie line. we boogie. the a.m. boogie. we missed it. but mr7 was able to extricate himself from the car AND get the door shut, which meant that i didn't have to get out of the car. so, no boogie, but i didn't flash anyone at the crosswalk in front of an elementary school, either, so i think i come out ahead.

and we got back in time for me to brush my hair and get on something acceptable for a visit from the fogies. that's what really counts.

I think you should get/make a cute slouchy hat for just this type of occasion; you would look super cute in one of those.

that, i should. i've been consumed by the neverending sock, though. i'm so damn fickle.
