mr5 turns 6
some random stuffs
it feels like i should have some well thought out amazing post to freeze this moment in time. instead? i am overwhelmed by this kid of mine. how fast he's growing. how few moments i have until he's a bazillion years old and off living who knows where doing who knows what. right now i want to bask. i just explained, to his great amusement, what a birthday suit is. he's wearing it right now, and is slumbering, exhausted from an afternoon of cake and tree climbing.
he's adorable, you know. tons of personality. the smile? gets you every time. i took him out grocery shopping yesterday, and he read everything on the list. crossed things out. wrote down the numbers from the bulk bin. when he got to the pastas, he wanted to compare them by whether they were organic, what the prices were, and how much he got for the price. geez. and we had fun the whole time. it's just intrinsically fun hanging around with him. i knew i couldn't explain it.
he still gallops sideways when he's happy, and hasn't quite shaken off the little kid run. i've got to get that on tape before it disappears. he pulls his hands up, bends his elbows, and takes off. vrooooom. he's always speeding around. i never took off my roller skates when i was a kid, and can't help but allow him to wear his skates in the house. he hardly takes them off.
mr5 just learned to climb trees. he's really stinkin' good at it. the day before yesterday he learned to swing down, instead of climb down, off a low hanging branch. it's scary, but awesome.
instead of kiss kiss nosy nosy (our favorite game) we now play kiss kiss crazy crazy. his crazy face and whacky arm movements are the best. he totally wins.
the boy can read like a house on fire. seriously. he gets stumped sometimes, but often swings out with big words that surprise me. and his spanish? he's pretty daggone fluent, although he is shy about putting it to use outside of school.
theLeon is out getting him a transformer right now. it's going to be there waiting for him in the morning. at school he'll have cookies, and we're having pizza, popcorn, and ice cream cone cupcakes for dinner. notsomuch a bad package.
two weeks from now, when my parents come back to town, we'll have his park party. it's going to be harry potter all the way. grandpa is even dressing like dumbledore. mr5 is pretty upset that the party won't be tomorrow night, but i'm being selfish. it might be the last party he gets to spend with his grandpa, and i don't want either one of them to miss spending it together.
got questions for mr5? i'll be happy to ask them tomorrow. just let me know what they are.

Happy bday to Mr. 5.
I'd like to know his favorite cookie.
