longassbutt post

leon picked me up a little early from work. we went to the liquor barn, 'natch. free wine and cheese tasting didn't hurt. we saw some nemo paraphernalia on superclearance, and thusly we picked up picnic supplies and scurried off to the daycare. we picked up the kids and had a lovely evening at the park. then we headed to the target to pick up some new wine glasses. all of our glasses from the early days of our marriage had bitten it long ago.

we were also there to pick up some beetles music. the kids have been singing the "love you, yeah, yeah, yeah" song over and over and over and over again. the muppets have some beetle puppets, of course, singing the beatles...and the boys are entranced. we sang to the cd the whole way home. and when we got there harrison came up to the front of the car and swayed back and forth with a huge smile on his face while his father and i sang our hearts out.

the weather was lovely and carter and i sat on the steps while the car was unloaded. harrison pointed out that the moon that we were looking at? wasn't really made of cheese. it was a rock. then he headed into the house. carter and i talked about the moon, and looked at the stars for what felt like ages. we went inside. after three books the boys were tucked into bed.

this morning i had my hair cut, and i will color it a perky red this afternoon. i'm making a goodwill box for all the plastic tableware we've been using the past few years. we have a nice plain white set now, and the fewer things we have around needing to be washed, the better. we're also getting rid of the old car today.
the weekend has such a nice pace to it. like a warm afternoon nap on a rainy day. the finishing touch on our morning is the rainstorm that just came in. i'm off to enjoy it...

* go to church. check. spiritual renewal is a good thing. even if the leon has an allergy attack and has to be sent out to the car to sleep it off. even if the kid has a nosebleed as you head out the door. even if kid 2 manages to muddy up his pants between the door and the car. even if the sermon is so-so. a wee bit of spiritual renewal is better than none.

* get humidifiers. check.

* get out without anything else. check.

* get replacement silverware in an ongoing attempt to eradicate all things plastic from the house. also to replenish those mysteriously disappearing pieces from the 10 years of marriage. check.

* get under-the-counter brackets for bar shelves. check.

* create tasty new dish from leftover sushi rice, left over artichoke bruchetta, mushrooms, parm cheese, onions, garlic, and mushroom bullion. check.

* get new tires to replace the one that blew out and the one whose blow out is imminent. check.

* experiment with new organic hair dye. check. (it looks exactly like it did before, but it smells awesome)

* have conversation with son regarding magic words. (turns out that you needn't say abracadabra or have the right wand to make things work). check.

* explain to son that we can't change radars name to "radar can it" even though it's funny.

* watch son create new moves for the sparebed gymnastic olympics.
