don't you just love this logo? pretty much acknowledges that they suck, right off the bat.
at any rate, we pass by miss judy at the bus stop every day when we drop off mr. kindergarten. so we skadiddled right up to miss judy and told her that we were going to ride the bus with her! free bus day! miss judy, for some reason, wasn't skeered, and gave us the down lo on the scheduling and such. the monster and i headed to the park for a wee bit. and free! free chalk! so, we made a killer "z is for zebra" drawing before we headed back to the stop. we also admired the squirrels. this town has some nice squirrels. very squirrely.
let me back up a bit...on the way in to school? i saw this freakin' amazing tree filled with bras. like a million. all in different colors. i knew it was some sort of sorority prank, or something. but the bra tree? filled me with joy! [see the foreshadowing? aren't i subtle?] when the commuter bus picked us up, i shit you not, the driver said that she wanted to stop at another underwear tree and score her some bras. i got a killer pink bra with corseting accents. seriously. tree bra! so random.
then miss judy squired us around the inner sanctum of the library. she introduced monster to all her friends. pointed out his shoes. and was generally fabulous. this library, y'all? rocked my socks off. if, for no other reason, i go back to school? 90% of the reason is so that i can sit my ass down in one of those library chairs. although, who the fuck knows what ringtone it might order. but, yeah, killer library chairs. oh, and for such a big fancy modern library? it is totally nookie in all the right places. a good library always has some big nook love for cozy readers, and, uh, gettin' some nookie. heh.

the monster and i explored to our hearts content. we didn't hit the fossil collection (next time), but we did check out the quilt collection (fabulous), and walk across the star wars bridge to the rotunda thing. yowza. robiewankenobie was brave, but yowza. robiewankenobie will amember her saber next time as she suspects they are mounting an attack.

all the sections are labeled by location, and i explained the system to monster. as we left he asked why we were headed east. that impressed the heck out of me. it scared me, too, as he will use these super skillz for evil during those teen years, and i already feel ill equipped at three.
after our daring exploration, we headed over to the rockin' library cafe (although i was haughtily informed by the teenager at the help desk that, duh, it wasn't called the cafe). for all our yummy breakfast, including the make-it-yourself university of kentucky waffles (logo and all). three bucks people. free bus. free bra. free quilt show. next to free waffles. what's not to love?
the next bus, was earth shatteringly late. the move to improve, apparently, felled by the bra tree. so the kid and i took a walk. looked a squirrels. played with the empty bike racks. i also let him play in the dirt path where her arranged rocks by size.
we took the bus back in to town. i will not discuss the bus driver and her cell phone conversation and the car she almost hit. that would upset me. and i'm not about to mar the memory of free bus day, okay, y'all? once we got into the station, we picked up some swag. two mini basketballs (which i explained to my little consumer -- those are advertisements, sweetie. cool advertisements, but do we need a new cell phone?), and this keychain bus with light up headlights. yes. i'm shameless. i got one for myself. 'cause when you hit the lights real fast? and make beep! beep! sounds? it's pretty much amazing.

we decided that our next destination should be the mall. our first driver? from trinidad. i'm so shameless. i asked him multiple questions just so that he would lay that accent on me. yum.
at the mall we rode escalators and played in the free playplace. i also resisted the urge to buy those convertible sneaker skate shoes. yes, i am twelve. but i didn't go there. you should be proud. i just love them. they're like the musical theater of shoes. you never know just when someone will burst into glide. while we were there, we bought a) orange juice, and b) a cookie. we brought our lunch. there was a sweet little picnic as we waited for the bus, which, of course, was late. i suspect he might be cross dressing. heh. free bra day!
then back to pick mr. kindergarten up. sigh. i wish every day was fauxearthday.

Free bras and Earth Day, somewhere there is a connection. Sounds like a great day.
