the word for the day: codger. noun. used affectionately to refer to an eccentric but amusing old man
i drove a car that might work. i let the kids jump in huge puddles on the way home from the grocery store (even though they got all wound up and annoying). the kids tanked out early. i have a selection of ice cream pints in the freezer. i'm already in my pjs.
the outlook? awesome. and all because of codgers.
i have a fondness for old fashioned diner food, and codgers. preferably at the same time. i like to hear them rant and rave. i like to hear the one don quixote jousting at the windmills of diner convention. raging against the machine. being dismissed as a loony. i ESPECIALLY enjoy it when the topic is POLITICS.
when we got to the diner this morning, there was a line of codgers sitting at a bench outside the door. they told us that the joint would open at about ten after. everyone was just starting to congregate, because the real show was inside.
the breakfast food wasn't my favorite. i should have gotten pie. apparently, back in the day, the owner's father owned this very popular drug store and soda fountain. she was the pie baker. famous for her pies. i will have to send the leon over to get some, one day, because i can't go back.
i committed...
a random act...
of codger...
disarmament...
i bought them all breakfast...and scooted out the door. seriously. how hilarious is that? who bought us breakfast? who? that lady and her kid? what?
if that doesn't fix a bad mood, nothing will.

Codger is a good word and how great is that - made their day or spooked the hell out of them.
I think that's the coolest thing in the world, the buying of the breakfast.
