a play-by-play of 6 august 2007
today? there was the arboretum and pie.

things are in full swing at the arboretum. fancy schmancy stuff is blooming all over the place. i'd tell you what awesome stuff i was looking at, but i'm afraid i don't know. and since i BROKE MY AMAZING CAMERA i can't go about showing you. does it help you if i say that the best thing was a leafy purple plant with large purple berries? i didn't think so. we looked at stuff, the little guy did a little trike riding, we admired the goldfish, and we did a puzzle in the visitors center. until about 9:30. because it was about to get friggin' hot.

afterwards there was some grocery shopping. so that i didn't have to make any "experimental' skillet cornbread breakfasts. oh, and for some reason? i am obsessed with tempeh. i have no idea why, but it really rocks my world. so i picked up a bunch of that. and some normal boring stuff. want to hear about my kosher salt? fascinating stuff, i tell ya'.

upon return to to casa de robiewankenobie, there were dogs to walk, and then there was a short nap. short due to the fact that it was 80 holy batman and robin degrees up in this joint. IT STILL IS. ::pant::pant::

but grandma called...let's pause for a weird thing, shall we? grandma called, but i couldn't figure out where the call was coming from. perhaps? perhaps because i put the phone in the fridge. yup. that could possibly be the explanation. she went with us to pick up mr. 1st grade. and then we went to a neighborhood joint for pie. just between you and me, folks? their food sucks ass. no really. like their greek salad special? apparently it is a bowl bottled italian dressing lightly garnished with cucumber, feta, and tomatoes. gah. [oh, man, i just gave h. his first mint. you should have seen the look on his face as the realization of minty goodness spread over it]. okay, back to the pie. i don't hesitate in saying that this is the BEST DAMN PIE ON THE PLANET EARTH. my mother-in-law and her sister had butterscotch. they had launched into stories about their mama's pies when they were growing up. they actively swooned at the first bite. the boys? some peanut butter chocolate number. and i friggin' won. 'cause i had the pear berry, and that shit was the bomb! a hint of ginger, and a whole lot off sexy yum.

the leon is at class this evening. he better get home soon. the pie is wearing off, and i am wearing thin. have i mentioned that it is 80 holy batman and robin degrees up in this joint?
