dilemma

the bug rugs have been invited to stay with their granny (theLeon's mama) for a few days next week. this leaves me with two choices. a) i go along with them, or b) i stay home and clean and get ready for the onslaught of school and such.

there are a number of complications with option b.

• aunt s. CONSTANTLY watches lifetime television and sees no reason why the kids shouldn't watch along with her.
• no teevee monitoring, in general. mr8 came home with running nightmares last time.
• i don't trust aunt s. not to sneak meat into the kids just because she thinks it's funny.
• i go to my brother's wedding at the end of the week which would make an entire week of kidfreeness (that is a lot of time without my snuggle bunnies).

the awesome parts of option b...

• theLeon will stay with them at his mom's house every night.
• i could paint a room a day in the house. unfettered.
• i have already asked off for the week. no work for rwkn + no one to feed + no fights to break up = vacation?

I think you should take advantage of this opportunity and let them go without you. You aren't always going to be there to monitor their activities and this is a good chance for them to start learning to make choices for themselves (even if they aren't the ones you would choose.) Another advantage of them going a week without mama is it will help prepare them for other mama-free activities like summer camp.

I know that time away from them will be hard on you, but if you really commit and work on your projects it could really alleviate the stress of looking at unfinished rooms everyday which if you are like me, can really lift a huge weight.
