today has been a fairly awesome kind of day. i fancy today. in fact? i think that i'll blow some little kisses to today when it is over and hope to see it again.
i was none too pleased to have to leave the warm arms of my husband this morning. it is so nice when is isn't off at the remote work site, and it is so much more difficult to get motivated to go anywhere that isn't within winking distance. i love a morning where the streetlights are reflected off shining asphalt. so pretty. and a light dancing rain. not drizzle. not pouncing. just dancing.
i was a little concerned about working the day shift, as i am a creature of comfort and didn't know who i'd be working with. it was rather splendid, though, and i met a lot of nice people and handed out quite a few stickers. one boy was feeling particularly grumpy in the back seat (according to his none too grumpy sister in the seat next to him). i told him that sometimes extra-grumpy days needed two stickers and gave them each one. it seemed to help. i think i am going to have to figure out a two sticker system for myself.
on my work breaks i played call that pharmacist no doctor's office no pharmacist no other doctor's office no pharmacist game and read a truly excellent book. it's called five smooth stones, and has me thinking all sorts of very deep thoughts. because i'm deep like that. with my thoughts, and all.
after work i took a very nice nap, and had a very good soak in the tub. then i admired my menfolk and took off for an errand up upmost importance. finding a dress to wear to my brother's wedding. have i mentioned the fact that my brother is getting married? i'm pretty daggone happy about it as i really believe that these kids are going to have fun together. i, however, have been going through a bit of pain. because holy high heck all my friends are bigger/smaller/taller than i am and finding a dress is a bother. i have a perfectly good lbd, but this is an afternoon wedding and that just. won't. do. i trudged off into the night to begin what is always a difficult hunt for me as i am bigger/smaller/taller than is required for actual real life clothing from stores. however, tonight? lucky night! i felt like pretty woman without the whole whore component when i stepped into a store and was quickly whisked into a dressing room with a pile of lovely dresses. quite a few were cute. and one was perfect! so nice to have choices, and none of that settle for business. i have decided to send the salesperson a pony whenever the pony fairy blesses me with a flock (herd isn't a very nice term, is it?) of ponies.
now i get to buy shoes. which is a shame because i hate to buy shoes except i don't because i LOVE BUYING SHOES although theLeon says that i need to show respect and not show up in a cute dress with kicky sneakers because it's my brother's wedding, don'tchaknow. which means i aim to find the highest most awesome heels of awesome that i can get away with. because i never get to wear nonsense shoes. i need me some nonsense shoes. i installed a shoe rack on the wall leading up to our attic hideaway, and my pretty little shoes greet me every time i go up and down those stairs. i can't wait to have a kicky new pair to greet. i'm thinking red would be swell.
anywhoo, i followed up my exciting shopping spree with a trip to the pharmacy where i paid next to nothing for lovely pills that keep me not crazy or wheezy or strokey. yea manufacturer's discount! yea generic! now, if we could just do something about those stunning co-pays, m'kay? oh, and i'm still twelve because the sweet little pharmacist has a very dirty sounding name, and it makes me giggle every time.
theLeon is off getting food, and we are going to snuggle and watch a movie. that's how we roll, folks. it's glamorous in the rwknhood.
peace out.
