man, this kid knows everything about navigating through difficult situations.
i just went for a walk with mr6. it was a great walk. he decided that he'd wear his footie pajamas. the green dinosaur ones. he and radar (the terrier of unknown origin) ran joyfully down the sidewalk. at some point? he decided that we should walk backwards. he said that i shouldn't turn around, and told me that he'd hold my hand and be my navigator. it's difficult to walk backwards as an adult. what if i fall?! what if i run into something?! what if the sidewalk ends?! but onward (backward) we went.
it's easy, he said, just walk straight on back. and so he navigated me around the block until we ran our cute little butts into a truck. we did a little forwards walking then. next he decided that we should do some sideways walking. he taught me a little tune that he said would make the sideways rhythm easier for me. he told me i should hum it to myself. and so we walked sideways for awhile and then walked backwards some more. i asked if we could walk forwards, but he told me that there is no forwards in the backwards business. right as we started seeing markers that were close to home he told me that i could turn around. i'd rather walk backwards, i said. but i need you to hold my hand. you can do it yourself, he told me. but i insisted that i needed his help.
sometimes adults need some help. a hand. and today i was safely navigated home by mr6.
