it was mr.p's first birthday, and it rocked my socks off. the park was tucked back into this neighborhood, and it was simply adorable. a wee basketball court. a stream. a playground. a covered picnic area. and the best thing ever? it had an old school metal merry-go-round. you know those ones that every park has banned in the name of safety? right there in the playground.

so we see some friends, chat about songs that play constantly in our heads, play with some babies and get hit by the perfect summer rain. it's practically torrential at points but the perfect temperature. and so the games begin. the little boys (there was a gang of them) immediately take off their shirts and become wild things. jumping across the stream, chasing each other, and practically coating themselves in mud. it was spectacular. they were wild and completely free. they spend so much time being told to be quiet or be still, it was absolutely charming to see them let go.
i have to admit? i spend a fair share of my time behaving. so, i begged theLeon. begggggggggggggggggggggged him. he looked at me and knew it was time. he's a good husband. have i mentioned that? truly spectacular. i ran across the stream, took off my shoes, secured mr8 in the middle, and let the fun begin. theLeon? man, this electrician thing has made his arm muscles fierce. crazy fierce. and he can spin like nobuddys bidness. i mean REALLY spin. i was such a twirling spinning dervish of a little girl, and if anything can take me back? this is it. theLeon spun and spun and spun and mr8 and i squealed and screamed and laughed like there was no tomorrow. it was tremendous.
there was also taco salad and lemon cake which means that nirvana had been reached. as i said, best birthday party evah. the end.
