i've taken a bit of time off so that this didn't become the blog of rehashed sorrow. i think that was a good plan. so, who is this rwkn you might ask. i have something to say about that. yes, indeedy, i certainly do.

first of all, rwkn is well beloved by her internets friendages. after hearing that my red mary janes were under the weather, a lovely shoe fairy sent me some in the mail. imagine! mary janes that just motherfucking materialize!

i also won a damn contest. a lovely contest. and some absolutely perfect hand crafted soap arrived today. i happen to internet know the soapmaker and so it was a particularly nice thing to have happen. this soap is not from the reqular storefront, but it's nefarious alter-ego. amazing.

i do think that i mentioned that i lucky enough to participate in another doll quilt exchange. oh, how i love the internet exchange. it isn't between two people, but participants are mixed Kattywompuslike among hundreds, which makes it all the more fun. i fretted quite a bit about my quilt, but it ended up being quite perky (a nice little pick me up in the middle of winter) and is living quite happily over in england. i learned to crochet just for the flowers and i'm quite chuffed.

quilt received. vintage sheets. beading. a wee little birdie in the corner.

quilt sent.

in other news, we've been using the "sorry that i ran into your car out of the blue like a freak and then pretended to be your sister to get an update at the e.r." money to update the house. the vintage garage sale gods were with me as i scored a sofa, chair, and step stool from the 1930s for an insanely low price. when i revisited the sale, i bought a bedroom suite - solid wood, not veneer. i have not yet been able to date it. it brings me great joy, however, as the bed is quite high. i have to almost leap to get into it, which makes me feel like the princess and the pea. i even demismatched the bedset - decorative pillows, yo! i topped it all off with a hand knit bedspread that my mother passed down to me. beautiful beautiful.

after a final run to the sale for a vintage hi-fi, the room is almost complete. it's going to need a splash of paint. and some art of some sort. i'm ruminating on the art. i don't like photos in the bedroom. that fairly creeps me out. so i'm checking out my diy options. hmmmmm.

after making such a happy nest in the bedroom, i became discontent with the kitchen. heckfire. the kitchen has always annoyed me like a motherfucker. WORD OF WARNING DO NOT PICK OUT PAINT WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR FIRST TRIMESTER. EVEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT. seriously. hardware stores should make you take a pregnancy test before they let you within a hundred yards of the paint section. boy-gee-howdy is the paint color in my kitchen a failure of epic proportions. but more about the kitchen in a future post.

i may also talk some about the most fabulous job in the world™. i don't want to jinx it. i'm akseered. so, i'll knock on some wood, throw some salt over my shoulder and give it a go. but not tonight.

i'm going to head to bed right now. actually, i'm going to snuggle on the sofa with the dog of great angst while waiting for theLeon to return triumphant from the moving picture that he has run off to. what kind of fucking train wreck of a disaster was that sentence? pay it no mind. when you get yourself in the middle of that kind of disaster, i think it should signal the end of a post has drawn near.

it has been a lovely day, but i'm tired. i suspect that a few pages of the mystery that i'm reading will be too much for me. with a weekend chock full of activity - farmers market opening for the season, some internet design classes, spinning lessons (i can't wait to tell you about my NEW WHEEL), and, perhaps, a concert (laws!) - i'm going to need my rest.

goodnight. i'll post again SOON.
