please, sir...cannae have somemore weekend? it has been delicious. well, with a few exceptions.

first of all, let me just say that i can't figure out how to personalize this page, so bear with me. i also don't know if i'm supposed to reply to comments? and lastly, i'm sorry if i scared y'all off with my post about my mental stuffs.

now back to my fairly regular scheduled posting:

saturday i slept in. then i made lunch for the troops, and headed out the door. to the ice rink. i haven't been skating for about four or so years. i tried to get back into it after each kid was born, but i just didn't have the energy. yesterday was like a dream. yeah, my edges have deteriorated, but i can still do spirals like nobody's business, and three turns (although the inside ones are, not surprisingly a bit rusty). my cross overs weren't too great to begin with, but shaped up nicely. i was just learning toe loops and one foot spins when i got knocked up. i thought it wise not to attempt these things. i try not to break my ass without a bit of training. here's where i get excited about the lamest jump in the world, the baby jump of all baby jumps, I FUCKING NAILED THE WALTZ JUMP!!!!! more than once. *does a little dance* next stop? i get my blades mounted onto my custom made killer skate boots. can't wait. methinks i will ask for skating lessons for christmas. i have to get back to the gym now...got to get my skate on for reals.

after skating, i headed to a thai restaurant to meet up with my knitting gals. we called an impromptu knit, and zab and ms. c. were both there. how much do i love these gals? so. damn. much. i don't have much clue as to what we talked about, but it was fabulous.

back home to say goodbye to the chilluns. we shipped them off to the 'rents on account of leon's natal day. what did i do while leon drove to berea? napped, of course. is this what they call gluttony? so much fun before the sun sets? mmmmmm.

when the leon returned, we found out that garrett lad had "changed his mind" about leaving the house. i had a bit of a cow, but i did not blow the child up. clearly, i have extreme restraint, because he so deserved it. the attitude? so sullen. we double teamed him, though, which was quite fun.

we had us some reservations at a nifty downtown restaurant. leon won a gift certificate at my company picnic. we stopped at the liquor barn for some supplies. booze, and a heck of a lot of exotic treats. artisian white cheddar. marinated mushrooms. olives (many different kinds). blue cheeze dip. vegetarian sun dried tomato pate. rye bread. onion crackers. artesian cheddar cheese. onion chutney. jalapeno jelly. lemon/white chocolate covered shortbread cookies. a Gianduja chocolate bar (smooth french praline made of hazelnuts and almonds melted with belgian and milk chocolate). oh, and french silk pie. this is a must have for the leon.

dinner was the best evah. first of all? the leon was resplendent in his new duds. grey pinstriped shirt, black dress pants, and a purple paisley tie. dude. he totally pulls it off. i may have gotten his pants a wee bit smaller than his usual. good choice. this boy has the best butt i've ever seen. and i get to keep it! whee! back to dinner. the restaurant is a funky one. the first of the funky in our fair city. before funky little places became the applebees of the downtown landscape. leopard print carpets, disco ball, red ceiling, low lights, and vintage photos out the wazoo. so loud, i felt compelled to move over and sit next to leon. which was great, because we did that newly discovered love thing where you lean in close and just tilt your heads together softly until they touch. we talked about all sorts of things. and touched each other's arms and practically melted in to each other. but in a sans gross pda sorta way. leon started out with french onion onion soup. the boy loves a good french onion. it was topped with cheese (that's a given) and puff pastry. i had a baby spinach salad with marinated beets, and goat cheese stuffed, breaded, and fried artichoke hearts. *swoon* the spinach wasn't, well, overly spinachy...and the other parts of the salad really played off each other. leon got a roasted chicken over an artichoke gratin with freshly steamed vegetables. i know, enough with the artichokes already. we just can't help but be drawn into a theme, yo. i had an balsamic eggplant terrine with mashed potatoes (the real ones) and the steamed vegetables. the gratin? perfect. it was done with an asiago cheese. i rolled my eyes at the first bite. the gratin was really amusing. probably no surprise that the fresh vegetables really spoke to me. each cooked to perfection and they didn't mess it up by doing anything fancy. dessert was a creme brulee for the leon. he's so easy. i think that he inhaled it in two bites. i had a key lime pie. it may not have been the first choice as a compliment for this particular meal...but i'd been craving it. so many keylime pies are badly executed. too sweet. this one? tangy and delicious. plus? the coffee was really rocking. the combination was swell. the service was outstanding. a clearly busy waitress who made sure we were well taken care of, and a maitre 'd who took the time to make sure we were happy. we had quite a wait because keeneland let out late. he asked how we were doing, and we requested something to nosh on, since we were starving at that point. he made sure that we got bread immediately, and he checked back later to make sure that we were happy. as an interracial couple we don't encounter a lot of crap, but we sometimes are given less than stellar service because of that "black people don't tip well" thing. they were well rewarded for their kindness. i think that servers should be given a little extra if they are busy, but strive to make sure that you have a pleasant experience.

back home to pretend to watch sahara and drink strong tangarinis.

we slept in this morning. and cuddled. and cuddled. and had a fabulous repast of liquor barn treats while watching sahara (not half bad. of course, i'm prejudiced. i have a fondness for men who get arrested for playing nekkid bongo drums while drunk in his back yard.)

yes, copious amounts of [edited for content not suitable for broadcasting over the intenets] was enjoyed.

highlights:

me giving my father a good run for his money when he complained about my exasperated phone call regarding the garret lad. seriously. i don't wanted him to fix it. i just wanted him to listen and commiserate so that i could go on and have a good night with the husband.

me telling the leon that we should cover our kitchen table with a glass top, only more plastic-y. his reply? you mean like plexiglass? i'm sure that plastic-y was in the running, honey, maybe even a finalist...don't feel bad.

you know, technically, people can't swing from the chandeliers. they just aren't structurally sound...after all you need to [insert over explanation of the electrical impossibilites here]

leon at the video store: i heard that, despite the critics, it was a good movie. of course you've got to consider the source: these are guys that have been electricuted quite a few times.

a leontastic rendition of "good morning" from singing in the rain after [edited for content]

a phone call with my father, who had to get a knife with a ten inch blade away from my son during the conversation. this after my mother had asked "how did they get ahold of the shoe polish." ha!

my mother calling at an early hour to ask when we were coming by to pick up the kids. leon telling me to say that we were up all night [editing for content] and we hadn't thought about it yet. me telling her. her deaf self having me repeat the word until i was yelling into the phone. her laughing and telling me that i was naughty.

bottom line? we were terribly amusing and witty all night long.. but i cannae remember everything that was said. i was too busy focusing on that man of mine. i love him dearly.

I think it may have been a mistake for me to breeze on over heeyah to see what you are up to AFTER having my first glass of wine.

I need some time here.
And, apparently, a clearer head.
