damn kids were up at five again today. i know it was five because plaza sesamo, or whatever, was on the idiot box. it's a little weird to be all bleary-eyed and have big bird dancing around to samba music between scenes.

what made it all the more thrilling was the fact that a) the leon left me sleeping on the sofa (obstinately to allow me the pleasure of the chilluns in the wee hours), and b) our furnace got a wild hare and decided to go on a little vacation. so waking up early being climbed on by wee miscreants with cold feet was really no pleasure. especially since they stole my blankets.

we woke up the leon at about 8:30 so that he could reset the pilot, and then carefully raise the thermostat by a few degrees every hour. darnit but that gas fireplace (i wish it was fucking wood) came in handy. well, from a temperature standpoint, because our morning was spent hauling the kiddies off of the hearth. don't get me started on what those crazy people were trying to burn. okay, so i acquiesce that the firebug may have been passed down by then. my jaded mama (after three boys, what is left to shock a parent) walked by my room one day in jr. high, and saw a flame shoot from the floor to the ceiling. i was doing a scientific experiment to see what beauty products were most flammable. she didn't skip a beat. "honey, please light things on fire out on the porch. if you do it in the house, and the house catches on fire, it is considered arson."

we spent mid-morning talking about what constitutes art. then we made stained glass with waxed paper and crayon shavings. i love to do that. melting stuff...oh, come on. that's melting. not actually catching things on fire...it doesn't count! at any rate, we made the stained glass stuff, and then made some awesome crayons. we took all the left over crayons, broke them up, and baked them in small hart tins at 150. once melted (it takes about 15 minutes) you just let 'em cool. they are some kickass crayons, i tell you.

i left for work, and left the leon in charge. i basically hate him right now. 'cause he's looking all funny at me. asshat. and being a big jerk. but he's being all cute and flirty today. and giving me neck rubs, so i'm considering liking him again. he did some puzzles from the education store, and made a corn taco dinner that was out-of-sight. sure, i planned the meal, shopped, and gave him the recipe, but ole boy? he's rocking the cooking. shout out to the leon! he put out the beans, fresh salsa (that he made hisonsef), and sour cream, and let them have at it. did i mention how good that shit was?

i worked all day at the drive-thru window. and didn't cry. or run away. so all is good. i also brought back a disgusting eggnog concoction for the leon to try. seriously? yuch. i tried to like it. but leon? he's crazy for the eggnog.

i got home in time to tuck-in, and read. now i'm trying to muster the strength to work on my freelancing gig. i want to be impressive, so that i might get me more of that fine fine extra monies. but, damn, shaniqua? i'm tired.

tomorrow will be a wash and repeat of today, with a few more hours dedicated to coffee. and monday? we'll be hectic with the school, practice for the christmas play at the old daycare, and a trip to the old fogey ranch.

damn. now i really am tired.
