my last day was monday. i worked until the edge of the day, and took off. i had already loaded everything into my car before the weekend, so i took my purse, my soy sauce from the fridge, and hit the road jack.

tuesday was a bit crazy. we dropped h. off at his school, and headed downtown to the library. we were early, so we spent a bit of time driving to the top and then down to the bottom of the parking structure, while calling out the numbers of the floors.
we got to the library, and had a snack at the cafe. cute boy automatically offered to toast my bagel. indeed. ahem. then off to look at the fiber exhibit in their teeny gallery. some real awesomeness there. quilts. weavings. sculptures. the library is open in the center, and quilts were draped from each floor. lots to look at. we got some adventure packs (books, puzzles, and audio visuals in one back pack), and some books about living on one income.
next we headed back over to h.'s school. i had promised that we would eat lunch with him at the "special visitor's table." it's a big deal. you get to invite a friend to eat with you and everything. i bought some of those cheesy paper plates with the animal faces. okay, and i may have gotten the silverware, too. but it's great for bento! it can be reused again and again! *is marginally ashamed* we had make your own pizzas. a couple of toppings and half-pita breads. rock.
a little napping, and it was time to pick h. up for the day. i ghettoed up the front yard with some plastic slides, basketball hoops, and such...and we enjoyed the day. leon came home in time for me to leave for work, and i closed the joint down. my sleeping patterns might take the biggest hit with this arrangement. i hope i can figure something out.
--------------------
wednesday was freakin' awesome. i did, for the first time in my life, fall asleep while a kid was awake. which was a bit frightening. but he climbed in to bed with me when he had finished playing with his trains. we slept for hours, and awoke in time to meet my coffee shop boss at the yarn store. i totally taught her to knit within minutes, yo! she is the best, if only, student that i've ever had. the yarn store goddess had c. wrapped around her little finger. he's been asking to go back ever since. when we picked up h, we headed over to the park for for.ev.er. that night i got to knit with my girls, as well.
--------------------
yesterday was a bit more on the meh side. c hasn't been sleeping so much as resting between coughs. stupid allergies. my asthma has also been taking advantage of me. i had been invited to a (non-religious affiliated) playgroup which sounded promising. we got there, and while the women were interesting, the kids were mostly babies. i have no idea how to find a play group that we'd like. i'm thinking about advertising at the co-op. for one thing, i'd like the kids to know there are other veggie kids in the universe. for another, grungy hippy tends to vibe really well with us. to an extent, but mostly. after we picked up h, we went to deliver meals. it worked out fairly well, but the whole navigating to places for the first time in the dark? notsomuch a fan. and without the leon it took about two hours. the kids were troopers, but it seems a bit much to ask during the portion of the day where they should be blowing off steam and goofing around. we'll see.
--------------------
today was sleepy and lazy. mmmm. also? falafel friday. then i got to read to h's class. he asked me if i could come read, since some of his friends had mothers that came in to do that. the kids were awesome. totally in to it. i went with the ever popular "green eggs and ham." i know, but i figured it was a good place to start. and every time i said, "would you could you with a goat?" they all groaned, "noooooooooooooooooooo!" it works out that reading is right before pick-up, so no extra trips would be required. the teacher really wanted me back, so i think that might be a fun thing to do.
now i've got to get back to the glamorous part of my evening where i clean the refrigerator. *rolls eyes*
