so, uh, yesterday? i spent two or three hours at the county clerk's office and district court for an inadvertent traffic violation thingy. you remember...the one that happened the day i took off to luxuriate and recharge? well, the good news is...that everything was take care of, spit. spot. which is about the only thing that has gotten taken care of in, what, a bazillion years?
i about kissed the people in those office. public servants who were sweet, cuddly, and lovable?! who would have thought? plus? the guy in the district court's office was eating the best smelling grapefruit in the universe. so, sue me...i'm goo when it comes to grapefruit smelling men. leon is about to join those ranks as my uncle has shipped us citrus straight from florida for christmas. it's the next best thing to plucking them off the tree, matey. oh, and i got an extra five minutes to kiss my babin's at their christmas party. lovely to see them light up when i walk in the room. *sigh*
in other news, leon obtained the new furnace part. it didn't work, of course. so today we will joyfully await the arrival of the furnace dude at our house for a free estimate. best case scenario? that the whole furnace is fried. thataway we can claim it on our homeowner's insurance (my friend pointed this out. i heart her BIG time). and according to my insurance agent and ice skating buddy...the insurance agency will go after the electric company for me. and refund my deductible if they're found negligent. coolness. we've never made a claim afore, so our rates won't even go up much. this means a whole new furnace for free or five hundred dollars depending how the wind blows. if the repair is under the deductible limit we'll be in good shape. well, what with the paycheck advance that i'll be scrambling for and the return of the part that doesn't work for a part that does.
did i mention that with the good electricity it's like having all new appliances? the washer washes dries and folds our laundry. the drier? well, it just plays along. and dishes? well, they just sparkle. honestly. leon came bursting in the bathroom to show me how the glasses were streak free. and you really can run every daggone thing in the house at once. with your blowdrier. a modern miracle!
after work i played bad mommy. i left the kids with leon and toddled off to ne's house. i made comfort food and we vegged in front of the television where we snarked on the project runway show that ratphooey recommended. who'd a thunk that it would be so amusing! best commentary evah! oh, and we shall forever be using the following dialog whenever we part ways: "aufviedersehen" [insert really horrible southern accent here] well, i don't know what that means, but bye!
could there be any better way to relax? nuh-uh. even if i had to frog and reknit a gazillion rows. which may have happened. or not. because i'm *cough* a much more attentive knitter than that.
leon is a mighty fine man to come home to. even if he's camped out on the living room floor. he's just beautiful when he sleeps.
this morning was pretty uneventful. except, oh yeah, leon lost my keys. no biggie. i used the spares. you know, the ones without the house key. after all, why would i need a house key? leon get's home first. oh, i might need it if i suddenly remembered that one of those stupid space heaters was on. which may have meant that i ended up breaking in through that freakishly high window in the kitchen. the one that opens to a dishdrainer full of highly breakable objects. it's a good thing that it wouldn't be raining on such a day. or that i wasn't wearing a skirt, and that while scootching my voluptuous body inch by inch through said window in the manner of a see-saw, i showed off the hello kitty undies that i had chosen this morning. glad that it was all hypothetical. 'cause otherwise it would be bad that i didn't have the key.
oh, and my computer is down. so, through the luck of nortons i may be able to get back online tonight. let's all cross our fingers, shall we? oh, and toss some good vibes over my way as tonight is the night i shall conquer the piping. no really. i WILL. *makes note to figure out clothing option b in the event that piping project is a failure*
