that midas touch. but in a bad way. which is what midas' touch was really like, i guess.

see, i'd think it was bad karma...like i was a really nasty human being in my last life...like heather...you know, the one they ajaxed...if it weren't for two things. le socks of joy and the [thing that will be mentioned later in this post]. so, as julie would say, somewhere in my yute or childhood, i musta dun sumpin' good. for shizzle.

here are the suckages of the day (don't worry, good stuffs will follow):

• i had to drive across town to the daycare to drop off their check...then all the way back to the medlady...then all the way back to work this morning.

• i brought all of my knitting needles to work. except for the circulars that i lent out. i now know that i have every size straight needle known to man...except for eights.

• i got lost going to dwans after work. really lost. like, hey, how did i end up here in borneo lost.

• my "go to the county clerks office and show them all your stuffs" date was supposed to be 30 days. only it isn't. it is 15 days. so tomorrow i will be at the county clerks office. yeah, i know, but i wanted to get a jump on tomorrow's list. *snort*

• i had to scrounge money for my visit to le clerk. meaning gift cards (thank you gift card lady!). but i am a moron. took me four banks to realize that i had to confirm the account number. and four tries before i realized that i couldn't get out the full amount due to fees. i only went to the one bank, 'cause my bank has lower fees. yeah, but they don't take the cards. leon is out roaming the countryside as we speak slaying that dragon.

• taco bells! means taco salad, olĂ©. oh, it means abomination of taco salad, a smear on taco salad's good name! because hardly any beans. hardly any sour cream. a travesty, no? no. the travesty is that they didn't give us the bean tacos that we ordered. i know, i know, check before you bite. *skeeved out* oh, and then i got beans on the legal paper thingy and tossed it...uh, where? dunno. we'll cross that bridge tomorrow.

• got to the michaels to pick out a book for daycare's book exchange. oh, did i mention that bad mommy is going to be having her illicit affair with le clerk when she should be cavorting with four year olds at their party? oh the life of an outlaw. you play, you pay. at any rate, they didn't have the books that were at the swank michaels across town. of course they didn't.

• got home to find out that leon has been rewiring for two years because our utility company screwed up our outside line. oh, and it blew the new part. so. no heat. part deux. let's all pray to whatever diety is handy that they pay for the part. 'cause we can't. and the snuggling, while fun, is getting a wee bit claustraphobic. i miss my bedroom.

• two emails and three phone calls about stocking stuffers from my mother. oh, and my dad asking how my training for the 5k is going. "you mean you're going to wait until the last moment?" and my mother's addition, "you know you started this...you really shouldn't wait until the last minute."

now for the good news. lo, for two or three years now...i have been coveting from anear, these really awesome organic cotton tie dye socks. so soft. so tie dyed. so expensive. when i got to work this morning? what should i see? but the socks of my dreams bundled with a handy dandy gift certificate to my favorite bookstore. i put those suckers on right away. so what if they don't match. you can't deny our love. sock bigots.

due to the overabundence of amazingly wired household electricity...i now...drumroll...can run the dishwasher again! although i tried to get that whole buddhist monk mentality about being in the moment when my hands are in the suds. i much prefer the ronco method of fix it and forget it.

bedhead eradication watch...day two

after the abysmal failure of "wash hair the night before and then scrunch into submission with pomade", i went with the more traditional...let that hair dry by itself method. so, footloose and fancy free...my hair is, uh...not quite as the suck as it used to be. it is, however, still crying out to be saved. tune in to tomorrow's installment where my hair will surely be saying, "away! away with the flatiron!"
