any day that includes getting locked out of the house, getting the heat fixed, getting locked in the garage, and losing (and retrieving keys)...without anyone being permanently maimed? good day. in fact, it has been a lovely day.

have i mentioned how hilarious my kids are? c. does a great version of the "white man's overbite" to ms. aretha franklin. it is a stitch. he's also overcome his inability to reach the pedals of his tricycle (a family trait) and his lack of coordination (also a family trait). the boy is cycling everywhere like a champ. we picked up his brother today, and parked a block or two away from the coffee house. then we biked over for a caffeine and juice fix.

the leon met us at home in time to prep a mushroom pot pie before leaving for class. he cracked numerous jokes, made me smile, and left far too early. the sun is also conspiring to make this day soul soothing. afternoon sunlight streaming through the windows is one of my favorite things on earth.

the boys have come to show me the pennies that they have collected. how many, they asked? enough to ride the penny pony for a really long time. they split their treasure, and i envision a penny pony marathon in the very near future.

now to eat the lovely pie, and on to the bed, bath, and books portion of the evening.
