my youngun had his first "museum class" yesterday. a steal at only $4 a session. it was fairly fabulous and worth the abbreviated nap. he made green goo. he painted with shaving cream (albeit he was a rebel. no fingers. he insisted on a brush). he eschewed the collage in favor of another green masterpiece. when i picked him up, he felt it necessary to berate me for my lack of mothering finesse. can you tell that he's nothing but high maintenance these days. a prince among three-year-olds. of COURSE he wants to go again next week. *rolls eyes*
i haven't been alone without a plan for so long, i was at a lost. luckily, the goodwill was there to alleviate the planlessness. my mojo was in full effect. two dresses. a sweater. seven skirts. for mere dollars. the pinnacle of the trip was the waffle iron that i scored. the big guy has been begging for waffle house, as of late. i reminded him that we only have waffles on special occasions like birthdays. because we're ghetto like that. and, yes, we did show up at del casa de waffles with balloons. again with the ghetto. at any rate, there are often many waffle makers, along with 90% of the george forman grills in circulation. but they aren't very good models. which is, perhaps, why they have been abandoned. CAN I JUST SAY THAT I FOUND A $72.99 MODEL WAFFLE MAKER AT THE GOODWILL? great. i found a $72.99 model waffle maker at the goodwill! yeah, i googled it. no, i'm not proud.
speaking of the google empire...just why is it that there is a complete dearth of little ceasar's pterodactyl commercials on the web? a clear travesty. i need someone to youtube that sucker.
but i digress.
so apparently the yucky weather of the last few days and the general yuck of asthma/allergies has made me a tad bit yuck. i may also be hanging 'round a six-year-old what with my yuck obsession. did i mention the yuck? perhaps.
so, when the nene picked me up last night with her sexy redneck honk from the curb (as requested. it makes it easier for me to extradite myself from children and dogs.) she commented that i was looking decidedly nonplussed. perhaps.
she was a peach. we went a thriftin' for some tops to go with my new skirt collection, and homeskillet picked out about thirty of my fifty potential mates. she retired to her car so as to avoid the frantic trying on stage of the evening. boy did she miss out. i am so sexy whilst trying on massive quantities of tops. hubba to the hubba, yo!
she was in her car for a gazillion years. 'cause i'm obsessive. i had to try on each and every one. or the world would come to an end, doncha know. i did well, though. i must say that it is quite a bit easier shopping without barnacles. i can accurately asses whether things fit without the extra limbs. it felt downright luxurious.
we celebrated with mexican food. and i gots me a margarita. 'cause i didn't have to drive. and i am a scandalous woman.
at which point came the highlight of my day. the highlight of a day when i found a $72.99 wafflemaker. yes, it was that good.
my nenne is a fabulous story teller. and as she told me the story of her parking lot encounter with the overly facially tatted meat salesman, i laughed so hard i cried. i almost asphyxiation so great was my mirth. from the description of his prison tattoo stars, to the "eats more meats" painted on the side of the car. it is quite possibly the best parking lot encounter in the history of man. i wish i could properly relate how he enticed her with meats sold out of the back of his car, but, alas, i am not the storyteller that she is.
i came home, kissed the leon, and fell into a warm cozy slumber on the sofa. all-in-all it was a near perfect day.

omg, the Goodwill rules. We found a $250 Kitchenaid stand mixer there for $59.
And a like-new large solid wood kitchen table with leaf, protectors and 6 chairs for $179.
I thought I only shopped there occasionally, until I started looking around my house and counting things. There was a lotta things.
ooooh...kitchenaid? awesome score. and you live in broad ripple? lucky duck.
