today has been a good day.

my morning edumacational coffee class was canceled. 'tis sad because it is supposed to be quite fun. this did, however, open up an opportunity to really have fun during my shift at the coffee house. i was put on the floor to demo coffee makers all day. i paired coffee with pastries and nuts. i got to use the whiz bang coffee grinder. and i got to show people how to make drinks on our fancypants mini version of our espresso machine. boy gee howdy, is that a sweet machine. for every five i demoed i got a prize. wow. let me make people free drinks all day AND give me prizes? well, if you INSIST.

two free lunches during my shifts, two free movie passes, and a double cd aretha franklin set later...i headed home.

the rest of the afternoon has been spent in the garden. first we broke out the manual mower. i think that we're going to have to get it sharpened a bit for the season. and perhaps some oil, if we're feeling saucy. i do, however, find it much easier than a regular push mower. then there was the priming of flower beds, and weeding. because that's how we roll. the boys had planted flowers this morning around our new bird bath [THANK YOU BIRD BATH BENEFACTOR!!!]. so the yard is looking much better. we may also have gone on a radar expedition. he is such the little explorer.

i'm off to shower off the funk and put on my pajamas. then i shall sally forth to the drinking, uh, knitting retreat. sadly, the leon has to work early tomorrow which will put a kink in my drinking, uh, knitting plans. *sigh*
