the big guy and i had a lovely night at boyscouts. they were talking about community helpers. again and again he spoke of electricians and how important they are. they did charades...his was an electrician. they did puppets? you guessed it. down to the insignia on his father's company tee shirt. oh how little he appreciates the ever important role of the barista in society. *grin* it's very sweet to see him loving on his pops. he even called him after the meeting to tell him all about it. i wish this was a different night so that the leon could go with him. i think he'd like that. ah, well, he'll have to just survive with his lame ole mama.

after the festivities, we picked the other kid up from his friend's house. let's call the kid rocket. his name is similarly amazing. his mama is a rollergirl, after all, turns out? it was craft night last night. so, i got to do some rollergirl crafts. that was some badass crafting, my friends.

i finished up my thrilling evening with a trip to the grocery where my wallet opened up and bled money. people have got to stop eating around here. this is getting ridiculous. from now on they'll be eating gruel, i swear. actually, they'll be eating some mighty fine hippie food. an assortment of hummus selections, baba ganoush, quiche, lasagne, chili, and something with mustard greens. any suggestions? oh! and i managed to figure out how to get tortillas at the mexican joint. they don't keep them on the shelves, or in the fridge...no...they are in secret coolers. if you walk around long enough someone will come in and get some. then you know that saying tortillas and nodding in that direction will score you some still warm and fabulous rounds of joy.

oh. and let me talk about muffins briefly. these are our favorite muffins. the carob? i know. but it works. we tried it with chocolate? not as good. we don't use near the amount of sugar called for, and tend to riff on the theme. so carrots, or dried fruit, or nuts. this recipe is very forgiving and always fabulous. there is another muffin on her site that we haven't tried, but looks to be interesting.

today: pay bills. make bread. pick up kid from school. knit on the very very very serious grey and black hat [six-year-olds are soooooo serious]. go on hot date with friend ne.
