last night? my hot date with ne? fairly rocked my socks off. our plans changed somewhat as the check-engine light on my car went off on my way home from picking up the big kid from school. i would have taken the leon's van, but HIS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF WHILE WE WERE ON THE PHONE discussing whether i could borrow his ride. i called my mother to report this and she told me that leon should just drop the car off at the nearest exit. because, obviously, it is 1950. also? seeing as it is kentucky, people are quite fond of loaning vehicles to black mens without credit cards. *snort*
so, the ne had to pick me up. and we had to swing by the coffee shop to pick up my paycheck. and then we were forced to sip java whilst knitting in comfy chairs. fortunately we were able to get away in order to peruse the high quality offerings of the new goodwill. i found a lovely pair of green and aqua leather shoes. from the italy. for $3. they are my new love. i may possibly be admiring them from afar right this very moment as they perch on my ironing board. *waves at the purty shoes*
dinner sucked through no fault of the fabulous server or my charming companion. my stomach punished me for my venue decision for most of the evening. then the leon foiled my early to bed because i'm gonna be stuck early to rising plans.
we've had quite an exciting morning of plaza sesamo, carebears, and strawberry shortcake followed by sewn cell phone construction and design. we've talked about the anything heroes, right? the boys designed them as a compromise with their mother. she is notsomuch a fan of gunviolence. they developed a set of heroes that use blasting guns not to kill, but to turn bad men good. of course if they hit the good guy by mistake, it turns them bad, so they have to hit him/her again to make them good. there is also something about crystals and such, but the rapid fire changes make it difficult to keep track. at any rate, today we started work on flip phones with crystal pockets. they're really hoping for costumes with custom helmets and crystal powered watches. i think they'll have to wait until christmas for all that, but they should have the cell phones by the end of the day...h already made crystals out of glitter sculpy, i just have to bake them.
oh, and the chili was quite fabulous. and easy. make some cornbread on the side and you're tapping on broadway, sistah. i'll report on other cooking experiments later today. the leon isn't coming home until @ 5:30, and then i'm closing the coffee shop doooooown. i should be home a few hours before i have to return for the day shift. *rolls eyes*
