tooth fairy? you is so busted.
big kid has been working at this tooth for over a week. he's been anxious that it would hurt, and hasn't eaten much. then he actually lost the tooth. he's in on the fact that his dad is the tooth fairy, but he's still unbelievably excited. i think he was a bit worried that the tooth fairy wasn't going to come through without a tooth as evidence. i called from work to reassure him.
the leon left a dollah under the pillow. i was certain he had forgotten, and so i exchanged paper money at work for the big ole fifty-cent piece variety, and then put it in a special shiny box with glitter. the kid almost caught me heading out of the room., but i made it.
about five minutes ago, he came in to show me the dollar, and then i said i thought the tooth fairy might have gotten confused and had come twice. i could have tried to sneak the box back out, but i told him that the dollar was for a new toothbrush, and that the fifty-cent pieces were for him.
i sent him back to bed and he asked if he had to go to sleep, or if he could just look at his money. it's nice to see him both relieved and excited.
*sigh* there is just something terribly sweet about all this.
