hey, so, sometimes? i feel like i yell too much. that we don't read enough, they don't get enough veggies...that we're doing it all wrong. i know that i'm being paranoid. but sometimes? it's good to hear it from an outside source. we had a test, uh, conference for mr7. and it went swimmingly. turns out? we're doing lots of good things. we win! sure he's...hey! look! shiny!...distractable...but that's to be expected considering his mom. *cough* we hear that he's smart as a whip, is kind to his classmates...is an all around good fella.

one of the most awesome things about his conference, was getting to know his english teacher. mrs.s. is a quiet sort. commanding, but quiet. we've never really talked before. she's all sorts of stick it to the man, among other things, and i love that in a teacher. watch out, folks! she's gone rogue!

mrs.s. has a special needs student in the class, and she works with the rehab hospital to make sure that she's on the right track. they suggested that she teach cursive. apparently? cursive is dangerous. she's not supposed to teach it. but she can't teach just the one kid, right? of course not. so she's going to teach it to all the kids. in addition to helping this one particular student, she finds that it improves handwriting in general. but she has only taught it to third graders in the past...after testing...when no one is looking. mr7 and his friends have been writing cursive on the sly. like it is a secret code, or something, for about a year...and this? this is going to make him ecstatic. oh, and she spent a good ten minutes after school yesterday helping him find a "just right" book for his reading level. the library books are all willy-nilly...some dewy thing *heh* and aren't divided up by level, so his private "how to pick a book" lesson was invaluable.

good kid + good teacher = good stuffs.
