on church hop hop hopping and the media violence fast. also? snacks.
so, we're trying to find a local church. our church, which we adore, is 45 minutes away. every once in awhile we skip around town to see if there is something that would work for us in this neck of the woods. usually, i go for a few weeks before bringing in the troops, but the last two weeks i've brought the boys along to visit a contending congregation.
the first time i went to pick up mr5 and m47 after sunday school, mr5 was very excited about the goldfish that they had for snacks. mr7 told him that he had a snack too. bread and grape juice. that's communion, you know, i said to him. body/bread, blood/grapejuice...it's still a snack, mom. *snort*
this past week, they went to class together. mr5 was non-plussed. mr7 was reeling with excitement. he informed his brother that he'd been waiting forever to hear the story of moses and the evil pharaoh. and then he showed me the pictures that he had drawn. his favorite part? the river of BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD, he tells me. what i want to know is this, does the media violence fast include church?
anywhoo, we're off to hop along to some other places. hopefully there is an inclusive congregation out there that loves the jesus, but doesn't rock out with a jazz band. i wish to heck that i could stay awake during quaker meeting. *sigh*
